Many scientists, inspirational speakers and renowned authors activating in the personal development field state that we have the potential of doing whatever we put our minds to, that our beliefs create our reality, that every great accomplishment starts with having the right mindset – which in the end leads to creating the life that we all aspire to have.
However, most of the times when asked why they’re not following their dreams and start doing what they really want (considering that they know what they want), people give the following answer: “I’ll start when I’ll have the necessary resources”. If that’s the way you think on a regular basis, the truth is you’ll never start doing anything, because with that type of statement you’ve just acknowledged that you don’t have what it takes in the present moment.
And while you might not have everything that’s required, you can still start by taking the first step towards your goal, no matter how small – the only things that are stopping you right now are your lack of awareness, trust and self-confidence. Luckily, all of this can be learned and what you really need is the right mindset and the belief that you can do whatever you put your mind to. Moreover, you need to understand that you have unlimited potential that you’re born with, and it’s up to you to become aware of it and use it to create the life that you want.
We all have unlimited potential, but most of us are not aware of it; the reason is that we are raised by our parents, teachers and society with limiting beliefs, which are based on their own limiting beliefs that are transmitted from generation to generation.
However, none of those who have managed to become successful believed that their potential was limited – quite the contrary, successful people have the ability to imagine themselves as if they already have what they want, they are visionaries who believe in their ability to make things happen, no matter how hard the road is or how many obstacles they encounter on their path.
Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless. ~ Jamie Paolinetti
In the video below, Les Brown speaks wonderfully about our unlimited potential, by telling us his own inspiring story – and I wholeheartedly recommend watching it.
When you have found something that you love doing and have a clear vision on how your ideal life would look like, start with what you have in this moment. The strongest tool available to you is your mindset – and when that is aligned with your beliefs and your actions, you can be confident that it’s only a matter of time until the results will start showing up.
For example, when I decided to move to Canada, I didn’t have all the necessary resources nor did I know how to find them – what I had, though, was a strong motivation to make my dream come true and adopted this mindset: Things are always working out for me…and am still keeping it today.
So I started with what was available to me at the time: the information and my ability to learn as much as I could about the requirements. I had no doubts that I’ll pass the interview – which was held mostly in French… a language that I didn’t speak at all at that time – but have learned it to intermediate-advanced level in only 72 hours over the course of 5 months.
According to the French Cultural Centre where I took these courses, the average time to learn French from zero to intermediate-advanced level is between 250-300 hours (or 2 years). So how did I manage to learn that fast? I believe it was possible because first of all, I focused all my attention and energy on assimilating every bit of information, without allowing myself to get distracted in any way; and secondly, because I believed that I can do it, and I knew that I had to do it fast, as the immigration interview was approaching.
Two weeks before my departure to Canada I still didn’t have all the financial resources required at the point of entry but the plane ticket was already purchased in advance. Those around me thought that I’ve set unrealistic goals and suggested that I postpone the flight…but decided to not listen to them. About 10 days before my departure things have suddenly changed and the necessary resources came to me in a totally unexpected way – not through a miracle, but buy closing a sale that has been on hold for quite some time.
Would like this to be an inspiration for all of you who still have doubts; everything is possible when you believe in yourself and take action by starting with the end goal in mind, as if you already have what you want.
Once you make a decision, the whole universe conspires to make it happen. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
